I know. I know. I’ve been woefully absent from my own blog. I’m so sorry. No excuses. Just reasons. That start with The Sims 3. I tell ya, when I get distracted by something, I get DISTRACTED. I hadn’t played in months and once I fired it back up, I was FOCUSED.
Okay. Anyway. What’s new. Our big, happy, exciting, long-awaited news is that Henry has made some big strides in his eating. This boy – who just turned 6 – has been fed solely on stage 3 baby food and Cheerios for longer than I can remember now. Not only did he not feed himself, he’s absolutely refused anything else. When I picked him up from OT on Friday, his therapist came out and excitedly said, “Watch this…” and proceeded to hand Henry a fruit snack which he immediately put in his mouth. I SCREAMED. Literally. And she did it again. And again. And again. And each fruit snack went DIRECTLY IN HIS MOUTH. I cannot adequately express what a big deal this is, unless you’ve dealt with a child who has serious food/eating issues. This. Is. Huge. I took him out to the car and showed Maggie & Steven. And they rejoiced. I took him home and my mom came over. And I showed her. And she almost outsquealed me. The coolest part was how proud he was of himself. We all went batguano crazy and said “YAY!!! YAY!!! YAY!!!” and he just smiled and smiled and clapped his hands.
I went on overdrive and started trying other things. For dinner, I made a Gerber Graduates Lil Entrees meal that had noodles and stuff and peas and corn on the side. I mixed the entree part up with some stage 3 dinner, so it had bigger pieces and more to chew. I rotated between a spoonful of that, a spoonful of bananas baby food and a spoon with some peas and corn. AND HE ATE IT ALL. Seriously, y’all, I cannot tell you how big this is! Yesterday he ate another one of those meals with mashed potatoes and chicken (mixed with stage 3 chicken noodle), bananas and sweet potato squares. Today he ate pasta & meatballs (mixed with stage 3 spaghetti), bananas and green beans!! Plus, for lunch, I mixed some canned Spaghettios with meatballs with the food and he ate it, too!! Amazing, huge, monster, wicked awesome. I am so proud of him and I’m already planning other things to mix up and try with him.
Other than that, there is nothing new. I’ve spent all my time either cleaning, playing the Sims 3 or dealing with these kids. But, I wanted to post something so y’all didn’t think I’d fallen off the earth. I’m still here. And now I’m watching my pretend celebrity boyfriend, Jason Isaacs. The Patriot. I love him in this. Cornwallis treats Tavington so badly – just want to pat him on the back and make him feel better.Tweet
